We are seeking a charismatic Server to join our team at Smoking Pig BBQ in San Jose.

As a Server, you will be the face of our restaurant, responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a memorable dining experience for our guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide guests through our menu, providing expert recommendations and answering questions with confidence;
  • Serve food and beverages that meet our high standards for quality and presentation;
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to our strict hygiene policies;
  • Ensure accurate orders, including prices, taxes, and gratuities;
  • Provide attentive service, checking on customers regularly to ensure satisfaction;
  • Bend, stoop, climb, and stand for up to 5 hours without sitting, as needed;
  • Turn in signed tip declaration forms weekly;
  • Verify customer IDs and confirm legal drinking age;
  • Assess customer needs and preferences, making personalized recommendations;
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of food, beer, wine, and cocktails;
  • Serve tables efficiently, taking care to present orders correctly and promptly;
  • Process take-out orders, package items carefully, and ensure accuracy;
  • Manage cash handling and balance the drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.

Requirements:

  • Active listening and effective communication skills;
  • Able to work well under pressure, meeting deadlines and managing multiple tables;
  • Strong social perceptiveness and interpersonal skills;
  • Proficient in using our point-of-sale system;
  • Computer literacy and ability to learn new systems quickly;
  • Must be over 21 years old;
  • Exceptional task management and time organization skills;
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability.

This is a part-time position, approximately 15-28 hours per week, offering a competitive hourly rate of $17.55. We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including Cal-Saver, employee discounts, flexible scheduling, and paid training.
