Key Responsibilities
- Manage the housekeeping personnel by fostering open communication, providing training, coaching, and constructive feedback to enhance overall efficiency.
- Conduct inspections of guest accommodations, public spaces, and service areas to ensure adherence to safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards, thereby achieving exceptional cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
- Delegate tasks to staff, taking into account special requests and priority areas to ensure seamless housekeeping operations.
- Distribute supplies to staff at the start of each shift to maintain inventory control and ensure availability of necessary materials while managing costs.
- Address guest inquiries, concerns, and issues to guarantee satisfaction, while logging items in the Lost and Found and responding to inquiries to maintain effective controls.
- Implement emergency protocols and training to ensure the safety of the hotel, guests, staff, and company assets.
Qualifications
Education/Training
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Experience
1 to 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role within this organization or other establishments.
Knowledge/Skills
- Proficient understanding of housekeeping operations and hotel services, typically acquired through on-the-job experience.
- Demonstrated supervisory capabilities.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. of linens, supplies, and furniture. Push and pull housekeeping carts and vacuum cleaners weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Carry up to 35 lbs. of supplies.
- Effective communication skills to relay information and hotel services to management and guests.
- Capability to inspect guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities, and review operational reports.
- Ability to interact with guests via telephone and two-way radio with staff.
- Skill in interpreting reports.
- Physical activities include bending to pick up supplies, cleaning guest rooms, and removing trash.
- Occasional kneeling may be required.
- Mobility requirements include continuous movement throughout the hotel, standing for 90% of the shift, climbing stairs, and using ladders.
- No driving is required.
Work Environment
Prolonged physical activity in a climate-controlled indoor environment, with exposure to heat and humidity in laundry areas. Majority of the shift spent indoors.
