About the Role

We're seeking a seasoned risk management professional to lead a team focused on driving step-function change to ensure control management is embedded in the day-to-day operations of our organization. This is an ideal opportunity to develop a deep understanding of a business that's at the forefront of innovation in the industry and collaborate broadly across business units, functional areas, and geographies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a comprehensive process risk reduction strategy, aligning risk reduction initiatives with the organization's business objectives and overall risk management framework.
  • Provide strategic direction to senior management on process risk issues and mitigation strategies.
  • Proactively identify and prioritize areas within business unit processes requiring risk reduction and coordinate efforts across First Line of Defense risk identification teams.
  • Lead high-priority, high-impact initiatives to ensure timely resolution of vertical and horizontal issues within and across business units.
  • Conduct independent root cause analyses to identify vulnerabilities, prevent potential operational risks, and inform control design and enhancement.
  • Support business units with design of controls and processes, including modifications to enhance processes/controls to improve proactive risk mitigations.
  • Oversee independent testing of issues to ensure effective resolution.
  • Monitor and track the implementation of process changes.
  • Cultivate a culture of risk awareness and ongoing improvement within the team and the broader organization.
  • Share insights, best practices, and themes.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in operational risk management.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact and obtain consensus from senior business/technical colleagues.
  • Expertise in process governance, with a track record of establishing and coordinating decision-making processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively.
  • Proven history in leading teams, spread over geographies and with varying backgrounds.
  • Experience within the financial services industry.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Management consulting and/or business transformation experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience in at least one of the following: identifying and prioritizing areas that require risk reduction, managing process risk reduction initiatives, analyzing root causes to identify process vulnerabilities, conducting independent testing to ensure complete & effective issue resolution, monitoring and tracking process changes.
