Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Coding Specialist to join our team at IASIS Healthcare. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of medical coding practices within our organization.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Abstract and assign appropriate diagnoses and procedure codes for medical records, including inpatient, outpatient, and surgical cases.
  • Utilize ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 classification systems along with 3M encoder software for accurate Grouper determination.
  • Conduct thorough data quality reviews to maintain high standards of coding accuracy.
  • Serve as a mentor and trainer for junior coding staff, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of MS-DRG and APC assignment and reimbursement processes.
  • Assist in resolving coding and billing discrepancies to ensure seamless operations.
  • Uphold and exemplify the core values and standards of behavior established by our organization.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position with a standard schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.


Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Completion of an AHIMA accredited program, including successful attainment of CCS/RHIT/RHIA credentials.
  • A minimum of one to three years of coding experience in an acute care hospital setting is preferred.
