Job Title: Senior Airport Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Airport Engineer to join our team at Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE). As a key member of our airport design and engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design aspects of civil airside and landside projects within airport environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze project costs and provide technical advice for design problems.
  • Perform project design and develop design concepts for junior engineers.
  • Plan and review the production of engineering drawings and specifications, as well as engineering investigations.
  • Analyze technical problems and devise new approaches and alternative solutions.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of cost and manpower estimates, schedules, and budgets.
  • Lead junior professionals and technical personnel on the design and drafting of preliminary and final plans.
  • Ensure quality control and maintain quality standards in all work produced, checking computations or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.
  • Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and other consultants to ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design requirements.
  • Maintain organized documentation/archives of design files, drawings, and construction submittals.
  • Provide construction assistance and respond to Requests for Information (RFI's) as necessary.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with Federal, State, and local agencies.
Requirements:
  • Experience in design and management of airport projects, as well as knowledge in airport engineering design standards, airport operations, and construction methods.
  • Proven technical writing and communication skills.
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience preferred.
  • FAA Advisory Circular familiarity preferred.
  • Adept at problem-solving, including identifying issues and resolving programs in a timely manner.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; superb knowledge in engineering principles, methods, and practices.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • BS in Civil Engineering required.
  • P.E. license is required.
  • 8 - 10 years of airport design experience preferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:

This position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods.

The role involves moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs or ladders. Employees may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds. Employees need to navigate construction sites skillfully and conduct thorough inspections of materials and structures when doing fieldwork. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods. Employees must be capable of working in varied environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and noisy settings, and be able to stand and walk during site visits.

Expected Hours of Work:

The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule. This is an onsite position reporting to the ICE office 5 days a week.
