Job Summary

The Shelby County Systems Administrator I - Server & Storage position is responsible for assisting in the administration, implementation, maintenance, operation, and security of core server operating systems, directory services, file and print services, email, and antivirus systems. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience with enterprise-wide network server and directory services technologies, especially Microsoft Server 2008 and later, Microsoft AD, Exchange, LDAP, SMTP, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, etc.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist with performing backup and recovery operations to ensure integrity and availability on an enterprise server and storage system.

2. Assist with performing maintenance to hardware and software to ensure proper functionality of an enterprise server and storage system.

3. Assist with establishing, reviewing, updating standards, and procedures to support a timely and effective work environment.

4. Assist in presenting to management recommendations related to purchasing and installing hardware, software, and network server technologies.

5. Utilize tools effectively in problem analysis and performance evaluations.

6. Assist in R&D activities on new and evolving network server technologies.

7. Perform other related duties as required or directed.

Requirements

1. Three (3) years of experience as a system administrator; AND

2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information technology, or closely related field; OR

3. An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.

4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Special Requirements

Must be on-call as required.
