About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Radiologic Technologist Assistant to join our team at Carilion Clinic. As a key member of our imaging services team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our diagnostic imaging department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport and escort patients to and from diagnostic testing areas, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
  • Assist technologists with preparing rooms, stocking supplies, positioning patients, and documenting information within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Facilitate patient flow, help patients complete history sheets, and apply knowledge of growth and development to provide appropriate care for patients of all ages.
  • Manage electronic images, using computer skills and anatomy knowledge to look up, review, and print images in an anatomically correct manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service, greet patients and visitors, and facilitate meeting customer and facility needs.
  • Under the supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist or Provider, prepare patients for diagnostic procedures by gaining appropriate IV access for the administration of saline and/or contrast.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of clinical information systems for data entry and retrieval of office files, and inventory of office supplies.
  • Ensure a clean and organized work environment, utilizing all communications tools effectively, and calling in reports to physician offices.
  • Transport patients of all ages via appropriate mode of transportation to and from imaging services, ensuring safe transfer between wheelchairs/stretchers and imaging equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and neatness of equipment, patient areas, and work areas, ordering and stocking all necessary supplies and linens.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems, communicating with the management team when service needs to be contacted.
  • Comply with infection control, radiation safety, OSHA standards, and practice safe operation of all assigned equipment.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • On-the-job training provided. Prefer prior clerical, computer, and healthcare-related experience. Experience with and knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology preferred.
  • AHA BLS-HCP required.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and employee development skills.
  • The candidate would be required to complete an IV access course within 6 months of hire.
