Job Summary:

As a Medical Radiography Technologist at SUNY Upstate Medical University, you will play a critical role in the imaging process, working closely with physicians to ensure accurate and high-quality MRI examinations. Your expertise will be essential in guiding patients through the examination process, positioning them correctly, and operating MRI equipment to obtain the required images.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret physician requests and instructions for MRI examination techniques.
  • Determine body regions and projections for examination.
  • Guide and position patients before and during examinations.
  • Operate MRI equipment, setting controls and making adjustments as needed.
  • Receive general technical supervision from Senior MRI Technologist.
  • Supervise junior and student technologists.
  • Conduct quality control of MRI examinations, ensuring proper positioning, technique factors, and resource utilization.
  • Provide orientation and training to new technologists and maintain clinical competencies of staff.
  • Coordinate patient flow to various scan rooms, reviewing patient schedules to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to the proper service personnel or supervisor.
  • Train radiographic students in the use and maintenance of radiographic equipment.
Requirements:
  • AAS in Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
  • NYS license/registration (must obtain within 6 months of receiving limited permit).
  • ARRT (must obtain within 1 year of appointment).
  • One year experience as a radiologic technologist.
  • CPR-BLS certification.
  • Registration certification for Contrast Injection (must obtain within 3 months of appointment).
