Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Specialist

ROLE SUMMARY:


The MRI Specialist is responsible for conducting MRI examinations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols within designated MRI zones. This role involves delivering patient care through advanced imaging techniques.



EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


A valid license to practice Radiologic Technology from the NYS Department of Health, along with current registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, is required. Candidates must obtain MR registry within two years of employment.

  • An injection license is also mandatory.
EXPERIENCE: While prior experience is preferred, we are open to training recent graduates from accredited Radiologic Technology programs.

  • Familiarity with GE equipment is highly advantageous.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role may involve standing for extended periods (1-4 hours) or sitting for up to 7.5 hours. Candidates should be capable of lifting and transporting up to 50 pounds.

Additional physical tasks include heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, repetitive bending, manual dexterity, and reaching overhead. Assisting patients on and off examination tables and proper patient positioning are essential duties.



ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively. Must be capable of interacting positively with patients across all age groups and in various medical contexts.

OCCUPATIONAL RISKS:

Potential exposure to hazardous materials and infectious patients.

It is crucial to adhere to MR safety standards as established by regulatory agencies and monitored by the Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO). Universal precautions must be followed.



PATIENT DEMOGRAPHICS:

Serves a diverse patient population, including infants, children, adults, and the elderly, across acute care, outpatient, and emergency settings.

EQUIPMENT UTILIZED:

Specialized MRI equipment and systems specific to the facility, along with standard office tools such as computers, telephones, and fax machines.

Compensation:
$48.00 per hour

Compensation is determined based on experience, skills, and educational background.

Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will receive compensation within the stated hourly rate range.

The pay scale may vary based on geographical location.
