Position Overview

The Project Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and executing all accounting functions related to the effective setup, management, reporting, revenue recognition, and closure of EDC's projects. This position will supervise the Project Data Management Specialist, who is tasked with establishing projects and inputting award modifications, including necessary budget data into the financial system. Additionally, this role is responsible for the preparation and timely submission of required federal project financial reports and small business reporting obligations.

The Project Accounting Manager will:
  • Ensure precise calculations of revenue recognized for each program and maintain accurate revenue formulas. This involves close collaboration with the Office of Sponsored Programs, Accounts Receivable team, Project Managers, Division Finance Directors, and Center Financial Managers.
  • Generate monthly revenue and gain/loss reports, including detailed commentary on the margins for individual projects.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the project reconciliation database.
  • Lead efforts to ensure timely and efficient project closures and final billings.
  • Prepare month-end and year-end revenue closing entries.
  • Compile all federal and non-federal project financial reports in accordance with project terms.
  • Prepare Small Business Reporting as mandated by the terms of EDC's projects.
  • Perform additional accounting duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Education:
  • Bachelor of Science with a concentration in accounting.
Additional Skills and Experience:
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP, including complex revenue recognition issues.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • A hands-on approach with a focus on accuracy, attention to detail, and proficiency in spreadsheet and office automation tools (Excel, Word, Access, etc.) is critical for this role.
  • Previous management or supervisory experience is required.
  • A demonstrated ability to think creatively and work collaboratively is necessary.
  • Capacity to multitask and adapt to changing business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Deltek Cost Point.
  • Familiarity with filing financial and small business reports to the federal government.
  • Knowledge of federal government contracting regulations is highly desirable.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $90,000 - $100,000, with salary offers based on market analysis and internal equity.
