Job Summary

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a highly skilled Operating Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our facilities operations team, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems on campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain all mechanical systems, including HVAC, boilers, and pumps.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building automation systems, including DDC controls and energy management systems.
  • Monitor and respond to alarms and alerts from building automation systems.
  • Collaborate with other facilities staff to ensure seamless operation of all systems.
  • Perform physical labor, including lifting, climbing, and crawling, as required.
Requirements
  • Class 2 City of Pittsburgh Stationary Engineers License or equivalent.
  • Universal CFC Certification.
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a licensed stationary or operating engineer.
  • Minimum of three years' experience monitoring and operating building automation systems controlling a large and complex physical plant.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The incumbent must be able to lift 50 pounds, crawl into confined spaces, and maneuver around small areas. A valid Pennsylvania driver's license is also required.
