Role Title: Director of Student Life and Residential Services

Position Summary:

The Director of Student Life and Residential Services is a pivotal role reporting directly to the Dean of Students. This position oversees the Assistant Director of Residential Services and the Assistant Director of Esports and Competitive Activities, serving as the main professional responsible for enhancing campus life and student engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the administration of residential services for a community of 200 to 250 students, including:
    • Formulating and executing policies that enhance student life and conduct within residential settings.
    • Managing operations related to student life, such as ID card systems, transportation services, and food resources.
    • Updating and maintaining the Guide to Residence Life.
    • Collaborating with external partners to optimize campus housing.
    • Coordinating room selection processes and managing all communications regarding residential life.
    • Acting as the primary contact for parental inquiries about student living conditions.
    • Serving as a liaison with facilities and maintenance to ensure a conducive living environment.
    • Overseeing transportation services and ensuring timely updates regarding schedules.
    • Ensuring a secure and clean environment that supports student development and academic success.
    • Working closely with the Assistant Director and Dean of Students to address behavioral issues and community trends.
    • Ensuring compliance with university policies and regulations in residential living, including managing administrative searches and facilitating nonacademic conduct processes.
    • Developing programming that promotes learning and development, including initiatives focused on Diversity and Inclusion.
    • Supporting the Office of Student Life by participating in on-call rotations and managing crises within the residential community.
    • Collaborating with the Assistant Director of Esports and Competitive Activities to enhance recruitment efforts and expand the Esports program.
    • Overseeing student-run clubs and organizations, including training and advocacy for student leaders.
    • Facilitating Undergraduate New Student Orientation, both online and in-person.
  • Lead the administration of student activities for 300 to 400 undergraduate students, including:
    • Designing and implementing New Student Orientation programs.
    • Establishing policies that support student organizations and campus events.
    • Advising the Residence Hall Association, Student-Leadership Advisory Board, and other relevant organizations.
    • Creating and executing leadership training programs for student organization leaders.
    • Managing the budget for student activities across all organizations.
    • Ensuring the development of social, recreational, and educational programming that fosters community and citizenship.
    • Coordinating the scheduling and logistics for all student organization activities.
    • Maintaining recreational equipment within the student center.
    • Representing the Office of Student Life on campus-wide event planning committees.
    • Co-chairing the Orientation Committee.
    • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree is required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in residence life and/or student life is required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in institutions with specialized missions or those with enrollments below 1,500.
