Position Overview:

The Sales Engineer plays a crucial role within the Custom Solutions/Contract Manufacturing sales division, operating in a collaborative and customer-focused commercial environment. This position is dedicated to meeting both business and personal growth targets while fostering strong relationships with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sales Performance: Drive individual sales growth to meet established sales objectives.
  2. Business Development: Actively seek new leads, conduct product demonstrations, and present tailored solutions to clients. Ensure the accuracy of requests for quotes (RFQs), quotes, and orders to exceed client expectations.
  3. Account Management: Cultivate and expand relationships with key customers, collaborating with engineering, quality, operations, and purchasing teams.
  4. Technical Expertise: Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding products and services to effectively address customer needs and drive new business opportunities.
  5. Project Management: Oversee all opportunities, coordinating with various departments to fulfill customer expectations.
  6. Collaboration: Work closely with customer service, engineering, quality, and project management teams to ensure seamless product development and post-sale support.
  7. Customer Service: Address customer inquiries and resolve issues independently, aiming for first-contact resolutions.
  8. CRM Management: Utilize CRM tools to manage customer interactions and adhere to internal business processes.
  9. Performance Management: Monitor business opportunities against key performance indicators and communicate successes and areas for improvement.
  10. Safety Compliance: Identify and report unsafe conditions and adhere to all safety protocols.

Qualifications:

While the following qualifications are preferred, other combinations of education and experience may also be considered:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or 10+ years of relevant technical experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years in a consultative technical sales role.
  • Experience with thermoformed packaging, medical device packaging, or injection molded packaging is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 40-50% of the time.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage at various organizational levels.
  • Detail-oriented with effective time management skills.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Demonstrated persistence and resilience in a sales environment.

Work Environment:

This role may involve walking through manufacturing areas with moderate noise levels. The position is primarily sedentary, requiring occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required.
