About the Role

This position is designed to assist in providing expertise and oversight of all areas of school health services. As a Certified Nurse Assistant, you will work under the direction of a Nurse to aid in providing care and support to students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance and support to the Nursing staff
  • Work as a team with Nursing staff to promote the physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of students and staff
  • Assist Nursing staff in collecting health data
  • Assist Nursing staff with maintaining a user-friendly and organized work environment with appropriate logs and health supplies
  • Maintain confidentiality in communication with appropriate staff and students regarding all school and health-related matters
  • Assist Nursing staff with reviewing and maintaining all necessary records for the administration of medication as required by ISBE
  • Assist students in personal and intimate care
  • Be knowledgeable and assist with student health action plans
  • Perform other work and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
  • Experience working in an educational, therapeutic, or similar environment with students impacted by autism or other developmentally disabling disorders
  • A calm and organized demeanor while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality
  • A proven track record as a team player
Physical Demands
  • May include lifting and supporting up to 50 pounds
  • May be required to bend, stoop, and kneel
  • Ability to work at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations
  • Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time
  • Moderate to high stress levels
  • Daily contact with students, teachers, and school staff
  • Regular contact with parents, community members, and outside agency personnel
  • May be exposed to contact with individuals displaying physically aggressive, self-abusive, or socially undesirable behavior
