Job Overview

Basko Dermatology is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians in delivering top-notch dermatological services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare exam rooms, materials, and instruments for procedures.
  • Escort patients, confirm visit purposes, and record history in our electronic medical record system.
  • Assist physicians with medical and surgical procedures as needed.
  • Instruct patients on pre- and post-operative care as directed by our physicians.
  • Clean examination rooms after each patient encounter.
  • Send biopsies and lab specimens to labs for processing.
  • Perform tasks in compliance with government regulations, such as OSHA and CLIA.
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments.
  • Send prescriptions to pharmacies as instructed by our physicians.
  • Convey biopsy results to patients as directed.
  • Assist with triaging calls and provide backup for telephone coverage or other business office tasks as required.
Requirements
  • Aptitude and/or experience in learning clinical tasks, including taking patient history and vital signs, assisting at office surgical procedures, and sterile technique.
  • Proven ability to establish rapport with patients, staff, and supervisors.
  • Excellent grammar and communication skills.
  • Proven skill in handling multiple office tasks simultaneously.
  • Cheerful personality, pleasant phone voice, and manner.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a dermatology setting, medical facility, or hospital.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Familiarity with medical terms and spelling accuracy.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
