Current Opportunity
We are seeking an EHS Compliance Specialist who will report to the Director of Operations. This role is essential in supporting and ensuring adherence to all Aptar policies and regulatory standards. As part of the Aptar Global EHS community, the EHS Compliance Specialist will play a vital role in cultivating a world-class safety culture and mitigating the environmental impacts of our operations, with a primary focus on training, regulatory compliance, and direct support.
Your Responsibilities:
- Assess existing EHS programs and initiatives to guarantee compliance with all regulatory and governmental standards.
- Identify, monitor, and rectify environmental, health, and safety issues.
- Coordinate corrective and preventive measures to address safety challenges.
- Promote safe work practices by developing proactive EHS systems, policies, and procedures; create safety and environmental campaigns, communications, and recognition aligned with business strategies.
- Implement unique adult learning approaches and conduct training for all personnel, including onboarding safety training for both temporary and permanent employees, as well as monthly safety training sessions.
- Maintain safety training records for all employees within Aptar's learning management system.
- Develop, implement, and uphold Aptar and regulatory EHS policies, standards, guidelines, and programs to support overall improvement strategies.
- Assist in achieving Aptar's environmental and safety objectives, including reductions in injuries, water usage, energy consumption, and waste.
- Support the overarching Aptar sustainability strategy to ensure the site meets corporate goals.
- Administer an environmental, health, and safety audit program, including industrial hygiene assessments.
- Oversee a PPE and GMP program, managing supplies accordingly.
- Lead the site's Behavioral-Based Safety Observations Program (BBS Program), including employee training, logging and tracking observations, and reporting status to the leadership team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Local travel may be required; limited domestic travel for regional meetings or events may also be necessary.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, or Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and requirements (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
- Understanding of safety management fundamentals and risk assessments, including machinery safety, ergonomics, and occupational health.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 EHS management systems is advantageous.
- Experience in plastic injection molding and highly automated manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Exceptional presentation and training abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment while managing multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
