We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist Oncology Sr to join our team at Advocate Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and standardizing the calibration of radiation-producing equipment, ensuring dose accuracy, patient safety, and maintaining a quality assurance program.
Key Responsibilities- Directs and standardizes calibration of radiation-producing equipment
- Ensures dose accuracy and patient safety
- Maintains quality assurance program
- Provides education and training in medical radiation physics
- Oversees department radiation safety and data management
- Performs delivery of non-standard, standard, and complicated treatment planning and techniques
- Collaborates with other senior staff to develop and maintain a QA program for departmental treatment modalities and imaging devices
- Develops, implements, and oversees the department radiation safety policies
- Tracks and monitors data or parameters directly affecting patient dose and verifies algorithms used in pertinent dose calculations
- Medical Physicist certification issued by the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP), or Medical Physicist (CMP-ABR) certification issued by The American Board of Radiology (ABR), or Medical Physicist (CMP-CCPM) certification issued by The Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM)
- Master's Degree in Medical Physics or related field
- Typically requires 3 years of experience in a Medical Physicist Oncology position
- Advanced knowledge of treatment units and simulators and awareness of treatment unit's limitations in clinical situations
- Advanced knowledge of acceptance testing, commissioning, and calibration of linacs, simulators, and brachytherapy sources
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and their families
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills to compare data
This position is scheduled to work Monday-Friday, 8-5.
