Job Summary:

The Bellevue School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Para Educator to support students with significant disabilities. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with certified staff to provide individualized support and instruction to students in a self-contained learning setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide physical, health, and safety support to students, including toileting, feeding, and adaptive skills.
  • Assist with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Support students with emotional and behavioral challenges, using de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Implement Individual Education Programs (IEPs) and collect data on student progress.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop and implement behavior modification plans.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities, particularly those with significant emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • First Aid/CPR certification and ability to complete required training.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities as needed.

This position requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent changes in student needs and behaviors. The successful candidate will be able to adapt to these changes and prioritize tasks accordingly.
