Job Summary:

The Bellevue School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Para Educator IV to support students with special needs in a specialized program or with specialized instruction. This role requires a strong commitment to equity and cultural competency, as well as the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with adaptive needs, including activities of daily living, toileting, and feeding.
  • Provide physical, health, and safety support for students.
  • Offer social, emotional, behavioral, and educational support for students with significant disabilities.
  • Implement components of Individual Education Programs (IEPs) as required.
  • Ensure the safety of students and staff when dealing with escalated behavior.
  • Collect functional behavior assessment data on individual students as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • At least one of the following: ETS Paraeducator Assessment, Associate of Arts degree, 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at an institution of higher education, or completed a registered apprenticeship program.
  • First Aid/CPR certification required.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to model and monitor appropriate student behavior.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students in self-contained learning settings.
  • Experience working individually with students with diverse aptitudes and levels of achievement.
  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) training.
  • Right Response Training.

Working Conditions:

Positions in this class typically require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Benefits:

The Bellevue School District offers a competitive salary range of $32.98/hour to $35.31/hour, with a 34-hour/week schedule for a 180-day annual assignment. Medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life-insurance eligibility is based upon 630 hours worked within a school year. Retirement is provided through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems.
