Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Front Desk Receptionist to join our team at Harmony Healthcare Long Island. As a key member of our front office staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare team.

Responsibilities
  • Promptly greet and assist patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Manage patient check-in, registration, and check-out processes with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Verify demographic and billing information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Obtain and enter patient demographic and insurance information into our electronic health record system.
  • Provide patients with clear explanations of registration forms and obtain necessary signatures.
  • Navigate insurance portals to verify coverage information and obtain referrals or pre-authorizations as needed.
  • Assist patients with changing their primary care provider if applicable.
  • Enter eligible patients into our sliding scale program and update electronic records accordingly.
  • Collect and process payments due for visits and complete daily cash reconciliation.
  • Schedule patient appointments in accordance with established criteria.
  • Perform appointment reminder calls and no-show calls.
  • Manage a high volume of incoming calls on our multi-line phone system.
  • Communicate and coordinate with physicians and clinical staff to ensure timely patient care.
  • Record and relay messages to staff members as needed.
  • Perform other clerical duties such as mail and fax distribution, filing, and photocopying.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish/Creole required.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and pay attention to detail.
  • One year of clerical experience in a medical setting preferred.
  • Health insurance verification, authorization, and/or billing knowledge required.
