About the Role

The Associate Director is a key academic leader at SESI Schools, responsible for promoting student growth and academic success. This role involves setting clear goals for the academic program, managing the curriculum, and evaluating Teachers. The Associate Director supervises all Classroom Teachers and other instruction staff, ensuring compliance with contract standards and developing campus improvement planning activities.

Key Responsibilities

Understands and implements SESI Schools philosophy, policy, and procedures relating to conduct, discipline, educational, and attendance outcomes for students and staff.
Complies with all federal and state guidelines for students receiving special services, including special education, bilingual education, and homelessness.
Directs the development, selection, evaluation, and implementation of instructional programs and educational materials.
Provides direction and leadership in the assessment and identification of the instructional curriculum goals and objectives, while establishing a strategy to address academic needs of all students.
Possesses solid curriculum knowledge with an understanding of school district and state educational guidelines.
Continually evaluates and refines methods of instruction in accordance with the educational goals and objectives of Sierra Academy and student needs.
Communicates with outside agencies, such as parents, school districts, and other agencies as directed and as needed.
Interprets and effectively disseminates instructional and educational trends and other pertinent data to staff, parents, and community groups, while assisting in the support and development of policies and procedures.
Participates in the selection process of new employees and is responsible for maintaining adequate educational staff and ensuring Sierra Academy meets staffing requirements as it relates to certification and specified content area.
Understands the SESI School model and works with behavioral staff to promote a team environment that focuses on both educational success and behavioral management.
Evaluates the Teachers' performance on a timely basis, including documented observations, informal feedback, and utilizing the formalized performance management system that addresses individual achievements and identifies areas of development.
Supervises assigned staff, including documenting their performance, development, training, and other issues, ensuring all assigned staff is in compliance with training, credentialing, and performance issues are being addressed.
Responsible for understanding and maintaining compliance of stakeholder's contract standards, including reading and understanding the current contract as it applies to educational services, training assigned staff, and notifying The Director of any possible infractions.
Possesses knowledge about the principles of student assessment, assessment procedures with emphasis on alternative assessment methods, and assessment that aims to improve and demonstrate student learning.

Requirements

Three years of teaching experience
Two years of progressive supervisory and or administrative experience
Experience working with at-risk student populations
