Sleep Technologist Position

We are seeking a skilled Sleep Technologist to join our team at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing all aspects of Polysomnography for both clinical and research patients. This includes managing and monitoring protocol documentation, interfacing with the GCRC and various researchers, and preparing quarterly reports on protocol activity. The ideal candidate will have good judgment and a professional manner, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
• Gather and analyze patient information, including reviewing history, physical information, medications, procedure request, and study protocol.
• Complete and verify documentation, explaining the procedure and orienting the patient to the sleep center.
• Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing, ensuring proper functioning and making adjustments as necessary.
• Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards, performing physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and making adjustments as necessary.
• Perform routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting, following procedural protocols to ensure collection of appropriate data.
• Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
• Implement appropriate interventions, including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.
Requirements:
To qualify for this position, you must have a NYS OP License and current registration as a Polysomnographic Technologist, OR, Registered Respiratory Therapist, OR Respiratory Therapy Technician competent to perform Polysomnographic Technology services. 2 years' experience in Polysomnography or a related field is also required. Certification by a nationally recognized certification board and holds either the Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential is preferred.
