Sleep Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Sleep Technologist to join our team at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. As a Sleep Technologist, you will be responsible for performing all aspects of Polysomnography for both clinical and research patients. This includes managing and monitoring protocol documentation, interfacing with the GCRC and various researchers, and preparing quarterly reports on protocol activity.
Key Responsibilities- Perform Polysomnographic procedures, including Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration, etc.
- Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
- Implement appropriate interventions, including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.
- Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines and assist with scoring clinical events (such as respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements, arousals, etc.) with center specific protocols.
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues and perform routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluation.
- NYS OP License and current registration as a Polysomnographic Technologist, OR, Registered Respiratory Therapist, OR Respiratory Therapy Technician competent to perform Polysomnographic Technology services.
- 2 years' experience in Polysomnography or a related field.
- Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to a certificate or associate degree with an emphasis in sleep technology OR Successful completion of a sleep technology program associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency for all competencies required of a sleep technician.
- Certification by a nationally recognized certification board and holds either the Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential.
