Position Overview

The Coordinator of Transfer Credit Assessment plays a vital role in the operational and administrative functions supporting student admissions and enrollment at Connecticut State Community College. This position is dedicated to providing guidance to prospective students, assisting them in selecting programs that align with their academic interests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the transfer applications of potential and current students to ascertain course equivalencies and ensure a clear academic pathway.
  • Conduct preliminary assessments of applicants' qualifications, including the verification of transfer authenticity and credit acceptability.
  • Engage with applicants to discuss their career aspirations and recommend suitable courses for their academic journey.
  • Provide individual and group advisement on academic and career opportunities, financial aid, and enrollment processes.
  • Scrutinize transfer documents for authenticity and evaluate courses for equivalency, including Advanced Placement and military service credits.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and guidance counselors regarding transfer admission requirements.
  • Perform outreach to prospective and accepted students regarding their transfer credit evaluations and related processes.
  • Support the transfer credit evaluation process through various administrative tasks, including correspondence preparation.
  • Assist in organizing campus events for prospective and accepted students to disseminate admissions information.
  • Facilitate the implementation of technology related to transfer credit evaluations, including student information systems.
  • Collaborate with various staff members to ensure effective transfer credit evaluation and transcript reviews.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of transfer credit evaluation policies and procedures.
  • Conduct information sessions on transfer credit evaluations.
  • Maintain databases related to transfer credit evaluations and course equivalencies.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy regulations and departmental policies.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field along with at least one year of related experience is required. Candidates should demonstrate advanced knowledge in admissions, transfer evaluation services, and relevant federal and state regulations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Student Information Systems and degree auditing systems.
