Electrical Systems Designer

Buchart Horn is seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Designer to join our Water Resources team. As an Electrical Systems Designer, you will be responsible for designing electrical systems and industrial controls to support water and wastewater treatment plans, pumping stations, distribution and collection systems, as well as architecture and transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design electrical systems and industrial controls to support water and wastewater treatment plans, pumping stations, distribution and collection systems, and architecture and transportation projects.
  • Lead the electrical design team on projects from the pre-schematic phase through the development of Construction Documents.
  • Apply established Electrical Engineering principles to plan, design, and develop systems, facilities, or processes.
  • Conduct project-related site surveys to confirm existing conditions and gather project data.
  • Conduct Power System Analyses (Coordination and Arc-flash studies) and sizing of electrical equipment.
  • Coordinate with utility companies to design new site electrical services and equipment and installation requirements.
  • Develop motor and PLC control wiring diagrams, SCADA system architecture, performance, and electrical technical specifications.
  • Perform independent engineering calculations and complete shop drawing reviews.
  • Complete project bid phase and construction: respond to RFI's, prepare addenda, construction site inspections, and review change orders.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Interns, EIT's, junior engineers, and support staff.
  • Support PM's with proposals, work plan development, coordinate multi-discipline projects and requirements, monitor schedules and budgets, attend meetings.
  • Perform QA/QC procedures and enforce quality control procedures throughout project development.
  • Assure compliance with corporate procedures relevant to project design and implementation.

Requirements:

  • Previous leadership experience as either a technical leader or project manager of mid-scale projects preferred.
  • Candidates must be willing to comply with pre-employment testing and background check.
