About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team in San Marcos, CA. As a Mechanic, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our wastewater treatment plants and related facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water/wastewater treatment plants and related facilities equipment
  • Lead a variety of tasks in the preventive and corrective maintenance on water/wastewater treatment plants and related facilities equipment
  • Contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities
  • Perform duties such as lubricating equipment, checking for malfunctions, replacing packing in pumps or valves, replacing bearings in motors, pumps, and other equipment, tuning engines, setting valve clearance, cleaning, and adjusting regulators
  • Examine equipment failures to identify cause and to prevent recurrences
  • Install and set up new equipment
  • Clean and paint interior and exterior equipment and buildings
  • Perform plumbing and pipe fitting tasks as required
  • Use gas and/or arc welding equipment to heat, cut, braze, or weld
  • Perform duties of painter in their absence
  • Assist in keeping maintenance records
Requirements
  • Five years of experience in the maintenance of wastewater treatment plants and related equipment, or similar industrial setting
  • Two years of electrical experience working on pump motors, controls, and other equipment related to wastewater treatment
  • Possess a valid driver's license with no major infractions
  • Proficient in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and instruments used in the maintenance, repair, and calibration of electrical and electronic control systems
  • Familiarity with the principles and practices of wastewater treatment plant operations and process control
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) certification or ability to obtain
  • Knowledge of related state and federal laws and regulations

The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high-pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights, and depths, fumes, airborne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals.

The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
