Job Summary

ABM Industries is seeking a highly skilled HVAC Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of residential and commercial HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and repair HVAC systems and engineering plants to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Operate and maintain central plant equipment, including chillers, absorbers, diesel generators, boilers, and associated equipment.
  • Tour and monitor engineering plant operations, maintaining required logs and monitoring pressure temperatures and other equipment parameters.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC equipment and associated systems.
  • Respond to general repair and temperature service calls for the facility.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain control systems, including pneumatic, direct digital, and hybrid systems.
  • Make changes and monitor interior environments using building management computer systems.
  • Repair and maintain other mechanical and physical plant systems, including motors, pumps, valves, steam-operated equipment, compressors, etc.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC and refrigeration repair and service in a similar type institution.
  • Extensive knowledge of DDC/BACnet protocols and older pneumatic control systems.
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups.
  • EPA Universal certification and BAS Controls preferred.
  • Formal DDC training and troubleshooting certifications, commercial refrigeration or operating experience, and formal trade school or degree.
  • Current and clean driver's license.
  • Familiarity with all types of HVAC equipment and advanced service and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
Work Environment
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, high places, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
  • Frequently exposed to moderate noise levels.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to walk, climb, or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
