Our Child and Family Advocate will play a critical role in supporting the well-being of children and families in our community. This individual will manage an assigned caseload of post release services, providing comprehensive home study reports and collaborating with care providers to verify and assess the prospective sponsor's ability to provide appropriate care and a safe living environment for children.

Responsibilities

This role requires a strong background in trauma-informed care, child welfare practices, and case management. You will be responsible for evaluating the prospective sponsor's ability to provide appropriate care and a safe living environment for the child, assessing the child's needs and circumstances, and developing plans to ensure their well-being. You will also maintain telephone contact and conduct virtual and in-person home visits with children and sponsors, utilize trauma-focused approaches and brief therapeutic techniques, and continue on-going case management services through assessments, planning, evaluating, facilitating, and providing psychoeducation to children and their sponsors.

Education and Experience

To be successful in this role, you must have a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or an equivalent degree in education, psychology, sociology, or other behavioral science or social service field. You must also have at least 1 year experience managing cases, be skilled in writing professional, thorough assessment reports, and have experience working with immigrant populations and providing trauma-informed clinical interventions for youth. Additionally, you must have knowledge of family preservation, kinship care, trauma-informed practices, child welfare policies and procedures, and relevant state and federal laws and regulations. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion, are essential for this role.
