Position Overview:
The Radiation Therapist will work under the supervision of the Chief Medical Physicist. This role involves delivering radiation treatment as prescribed by the radiation oncologist, adhering to established protocols and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review treatment prescriptions and patient information.
- Facilitate communication between the radiation oncologist and patients.
- Prepare and maintain necessary equipment, including immobilization and protection devices.
- Keep accurate records, reports, and files related to treatment and patient responses.
Treatment Administration:
- Accurately position patients for radiation therapy based on prescriptions.
- Administer prescribed radiation doses to designated areas using specialized equipment.
- Conduct daily quality assurance checks on radiation therapy equipment as directed.
Patient Care:
- Observe and support patients during treatment sessions, reporting any unusual reactions to the physician.
- Collaborate with the attending physician and scheduling staff to coordinate patient appointments for radiation therapy.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited radiation therapy technology program.
- Minimum of two years of practical experience as a Radiation Therapy Technologist.
- ARRT certification is required.
- Valid Arizona radiation therapy license is mandatory.
