About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Integration Engineer to join our team at Daimler Truck North America. As a key member of our Detroit Powertrain Mechatronics team, you will play a critical role in the development of advanced powertrain technologies for the commercial vehicle market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop software controls, diagnostics, and research for internal combustion engine (ICE) and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) propulsion technologies.
  • Collaborate with global teams to develop powertrain controls, including Detroit, Stuttgart, and Portland colleagues.
  • Support hardware teams with reporting and failure analysis of test and field components for ICEs and BEVs.
  • Develop software and calibration for ICEs and BEVs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to project plans and timelines, and assist management with defining budget requirements.
  • Participate in cross-functional activities with regional and global counterparts in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing, and Suppliers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Engineering (Required).
  • 0-2 years relative industry experience.
  • Strong oral, written communication, and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and self-starter.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with and get work done effectively through others.
  • Strong PC skills, including MS Office and database tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Engineering.
  • 2+ years relevant industry experience.
  • Experience identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems.
  • Knowledge of diesel engine, transmission, and aftertreatment systems.
  • Knowledge of BEV propulsion systems, including axles, motors, and inverters.
