Job Summary">

This is an exciting opportunity to join the City of Santa Monica, CA team as a Traffic Painter. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining parking and traffic control signs, laying out and painting pavement markings, curb zones, parking lot spaces, and street lines.


About the Job">
  • You will work under the general supervision of the Traffic Operations Supervisor and receive daily work assignments from the Lead Traffic Signs and Markings Technician Painter.
  • You will measure and lay out areas to erect or place signs, install and remove sign posts, operate a bucket truck, and use ladders to remove and install signs.
  • You will paint and install linear and transverse markings on city streets, city-owned parking facilities, and various bus, loading, and safety zones using a Thermoplastic Machine, stencils, and spray equipment.

Requirements">
  • High school graduation or equivalent required.
  • Two years of recent, paid work experience performing traffic sign installation and maintenance, including street painting required.
  • Possession of a valid class C driver license and Level I Signs and Pavement Markings Certification from the Traffic Control Supervisors Association (T.C.S.A.) or the International Municipal Signal Association (I.M.S.A.) within one year of hire required.
