Position Summary:
This field-based role involves regular travel to various supplier locations and power generation facilities. The successful candidate will apply standard engineering methodologies to conduct thorough analyses and provide strategic recommendations related to coal mining operations, transportation logistics, and supplier evaluations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct site visits to assess fuel and reagent suppliers, focusing on production costs and potential supply issues.
2. Collaborate with coal suppliers and plant personnel to identify cost-effective mining and fuel utilization strategies.
3. Participate in supplier and power plant scale testing and sampling bias assessments, ensuring compliance with company standards.
4. Perform comprehensive analyses of fuel supply options for power generation.
5. Monitor supplier loading processes to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
6. Coordinate annual stockpile surveys and compile detailed reports on findings.
7. Assist in evaluating claims related to supplier and transporter government impositions.
8. Support power plants in fuel handling and blending operations.
9. Develop and execute special projects as needed.
10. Analyze engineering data, draw conclusions, and present findings to relevant stakeholders.
11. Conduct quarterly assessments of operational capabilities to evaluate supplier risk levels.
12. Undertake additional duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
Preferred Experience: Candidates with experience in coal mining (both surface and underground), engineering of mining systems, and material handling will be prioritized. Familiarity with coal and limestone, as well as skills in coal quality analysis and effective communication, are advantageous.
