The Applied Mathematics and Physics Solutions (AMPS) group is seeking an Electrical Engineer to work alongside our Plasma Physics research staff and be involved in all aspects of our team's work from performing experiments to recording and analyzing experimental data.
This position involves setup and operation of precision calibrated tools including rf, microwave, and optical test equipment. You will also set up, modify, and maintain vacuum systems and experimental apparatuses. Basic electrical circuit design for custom diagnostic tools is required. Additionally, you will operate various plasma sources and plasma diagnostic equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, gather and compile technical data, and create detailed documentation of experimental results.
We are looking for someone with basic computer software proficiency, preferably including laboratory or industrial applications. Strong problem identification and solution skills, as well as excellent communication skills, are essential. The ability to work independently with minimal guidance is also required.
Responsibilities
- Setup and operation of precision calibrated tools including rf, microwave, and optical test equipment

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, or other relevant engineering degree
- Experience operating spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, power meters, signal generators, lasers, spectrometers, and/or other RF/optical/IR test equipment
- Experience with high vacuum/ultra-high vacuum environments, vacuum systems, and plasma sources
Salary and Benefits
This role comes with a competitive salary of $62,000 - $100,000 per year, based on experience, location, and other factors. Riverside Research Institute offers comprehensive compensation and benefit packages to its employees.
