We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Team Leader to join our team at DCH Health System. Key Responsibilities- Coordinate unit activities and provide leadership for unit staffing and patient assignments
- Respond to and provide leadership during crisis and emergency situations
- Promote efficient patient flow, including timely discharges and admissions
- Encourage a safe environment by promoting adherence to established protocols, policies, and procedures
- Serve as a clinical resource for staff, especially for new employees and during complex patient care situations
- Effectively implement current techniques and/or programs to improve patient care processes
- Ensure care is delivered appropriately by orienting staff in accordance with Standards of Practice, reviewing clinical records for appropriate documentation, and reviewing documentation of appropriate plans of care
- Lead staff huddles to communicate important, "just in time" information to all staff on duty
- Regularly round on patients, physicians, and employees to focus on clinical safety, quality compliance, patient experience, satisfaction, physician, and employee satisfaction, and staff performance
- Participate in PI programs and assess and meet own professional education needs
- Maintain effective interdepartmental relationships by working with other unit leaders and departments to define and work toward common goals
- Current Alabama RN license required
- 2 years' experience as a registered nurse required
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training required
- Customer service abilities, including effective listening skills, critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, make decisions that affect others, and communicate clearly and accurately. The Nursing Team Leader must be able to delegate to team members and students, address conflict and stressful situations, and communicate with different personalities and engage in face-to-face discussions.
Physical DemandsThis position requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The Nursing Team Leader must be able to tolerate prolonged periods of standing and walking, reach reasonable distances in any direction, stand, walk, kneel, bend, sit, and stoop. The ability to run in an emergency and perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation is also required.
