We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our dynamic medical/surgical team at Atrium Health Stanly Unit. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

Job Summary

As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be responsible for performing nursing care and assisting with planning and implementing care for the comfort and well-being of our patients. You will work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse and maintain a safe working environment. Your duties will include participating in patient assessments, recognizing and responding to changes in patient status, and implementing the identified plan of care.

Essential Functions
  • Participate in patient assessments by determining nursing care needs based on collection and interpretation of relevant data.
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient status, including significant changes that require immediate intervention.
  • Document patient observations, treatments, and patient response to treatment and nursing care using the nursing process.
  • Assist with development/revision of the plan of care by providing data and identifying potential goals and interventions for review by the RN.
  • Communicate with the appropriate clinical staff on the status of a patient if a significant change has occurred.
  • Implement the identified plan under the supervision of the RN, ensuring tasks have been completed.
  • Aware of patient's progress and goals as demonstrated by documentation in the medical records.
  • Organize workload and prioritize responsibilities to ensure quality patient care is delivered in a timely manner.
  • Attain knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice and perform only those nursing skills which they are competent to perform in accordance with legal boundaries and facility policies and procedures.
  • Document assessments, procedures, patient/family education, and the communication of information to appropriate members of the healthcare team in a timely manner.
  • Provide and assess the effectiveness of patient and family education under the direction of the registered nurse within the scope of practice as defined by law.
Physical Requirements

This role requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling. You must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds when handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. You must have intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch, finger dexterity, critical thinking, and the ability to concentrate. You must be able to respond quickly to changes in the patient and unit conditions.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing is required. Current LPN licensure or temporary license as a licensed practical nurse petitioner is required. BLS is required per policy guidelines.
