Position Overview:

The Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse (APRN) plays a crucial role in delivering mental health services to clients across various settings, including long-term care facilities. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM, ensuring no weekend or holiday commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and manage psychopharmacological treatments while providing therapeutic support to clients.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions as appropriate, and offer behavioral health consultations to interdisciplinary teams.
  • Serve as a professional exemplar, fostering effective communication and collaboration within the healthcare team.
  • Perform both routine and urgent psychiatric evaluations to address client needs promptly.
  • Develop and implement tailored behavioral health treatment plans based on clinical best practices.
  • Monitor client responses to medications and adjust treatment plans as necessary to optimize care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of interventions, medication management, and client responses in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Provide behavioral health insights and support to the interdisciplinary team, enhancing their capacity to integrate psychiatric principles into patient care.
  • Engage in behavioral health program initiatives aimed at improving clinical practices and teamwork.
  • Offer support to colleagues in the Behavioral Health department as needed.
  • Comply with safety protocols, including passing a fit test for mask usage, ensuring a proper seal is maintained.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree as a psychiatric/mental health Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner, with over 5 years of experience in psychiatric care and prescribing psychotropic medications.
  • Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse/Advanced Practice Nurse in the Commonwealth of MA, with prescribing authority.
  • ANCC certification as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist.
  • 2-5 years of experience in an advanced practice role with prescriptive authority.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working with the elderly population.
  • Demonstrated competence in evaluating and treating older adults, including expertise in psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and caregiver consultation.
