Position Overview:
The Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse (APRN) plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive behavioral health services to clients across various settings, including nursing facilities. This role involves managing a caseload of clients referred by primary care providers and offering expert consultation on behavioral health matters to the interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts thorough psychiatric assessments and oversees psychopharmacological management, complemented by psychotherapeutic support for clients.
- Facilitates individual and group therapy sessions when appropriate, while also providing behavioral health insights to other healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrates exemplary professional conduct, fostering effective communication and collaboration within the team.
- Performs both routine and urgent psychiatric evaluations as needed.
- Develops tailored behavioral health treatment strategies based on clinical best practices.
- Monitors and evaluates clients' responses to psychotropic medications, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
- Maintains accurate documentation of interventions, medication plans, and client responses in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Offers behavioral health consultation to the interdisciplinary team, enhancing their ability to incorporate psychiatric principles into patient care.
- Engages in various Behavioral Health program initiatives aimed at improving clinical practices and teamwork.
- Provides coverage for colleagues in the Behavioral Health department as required.
- Meets fit test requirements for mask usage, ensuring a proper seal without facial hair interference.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree as a psychiatric/mental health Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner, with ANCC certification as NP and over 5 years of psychiatric experience, including prescribing psychotropics.
- Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse/Advanced Practice Nurse in the Commonwealth of MA, with prescribing authority.
- ANCC certification as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist.
- 2-5 years of experience in an advanced practice role with prescriptive authority.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with the elderly population.
- Demonstrated competence in evaluating and treating older adults, including psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and caregiver consultation.
