Collaborate with the nursing team to provide outstanding care to our residents. Act as a representative of nursing leadership during off-hours, managing emergencies, addressing customer service concerns, and ensuring adequate staffing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Propose and support enhancements within the department.
  • Take ownership of assignments and view challenges as opportunities for growth.
  • Be mindful of your actions and their impact on departmental efficiency.
  • Deliver direct resident care as directed by the Charge Nurse, Aide, or Director of Resident Care.
  • Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, and ambulating residents.
  • Maintain a safe and recovery-friendly environment by performing safety checks, keeping areas clean and organized, and managing equipment.
  • Provide nourishment to residents.
  • Conduct routine assessments, including resident weights and vital signs.
  • Manage the acquisition and distribution of supplies and equipment necessary for resident care.
  • Address resident and family concerns, ensuring follow-through.
  • Communicate feedback regarding resident care to the Director of Resident Care and Charge LPN.
  • Document care activities in accordance with established procedures.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and understand policies regarding exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
  • Respond to emergent situations within the scope of the nursing assistant role.
  • Provide companionship and supervision to residents as needed.
  • Maintain current CPR certification at the Heart Saver level and First Aid.
  • Receive feedback constructively and communicate learning needs to the Resident Support Coordinator.
  • Engage in self-assessment as requested by the Director of Resident Care.
  • Complete mandatory training requirements as outlined by the Department of Human Services/UPMC.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to the appropriate department.
  • Establish effective communication strategies and foster respectful interpersonal relationships.
  • Contribute to unit activities, including responding to call lights and assisting with meal service.
  • Support new employees in understanding established policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Understanding of body mechanics and transfer techniques.
  • Preferred: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CPR certification required based on AHA standards, including both didactic and skills demonstration components.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or First Aid Certification.
  • Act 34 Clearance.
  • OAPSA Clearance.
