Position Overview

Join our vibrant and fast-paced Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), where we deliver advanced critical care to pediatric patients with congenital and acquired heart conditions. Our unit is among the largest and most technologically sophisticated in the western United States, caring for over 750 patients annually. With a current capacity of 29 beds and plans for expansion, we are at the forefront of pediatric cardiac care.

Our Pediatric Heart Transplant program is enhanced by the Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Therapies (PACT) program, which offers innovative circulatory support options. Our team is recognized nationally for its expertise in managing complex cases.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) team consists of 19 skilled Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, collectively bringing over 90 years of pediatric cardiac experience. We seek collaborative individuals who share our enthusiasm for pediatric intensive care and are eager to contribute to a dynamic and growing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-rounding and develop comprehensive care plans to facilitate patient recovery.
  • Participate in daily rounds, presenting patient cases and implementing agreed-upon care strategies.
  • Perform essential procedures, including intubation, line placements, and chest tube management.
  • Engage in hospital-wide advanced practice initiatives, including clinical ladders and task forces.

Qualifications

A Master's or doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited institution is required. Candidates must have graduated from an NP program accredited by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Experience in pediatric cardiac care or intensive care is highly desirable.

Role Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider roles are integral to a collaborative team that includes Attending Physicians and Fellows. The APP team is highly regarded for its contributions to patient care and education. Responsibilities include patient handoffs, developing daily care plans, and addressing any concerns raised by nursing staff throughout the day. The APP is credentialed to perform various procedures, ensuring comprehensive patient management.

Licensure and Certification

Applicants must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California and certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP). National Board Certification from an accredited agency is also required. Additional certifications may be necessary based on departmental needs.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications, typically falling within the range of $182,228.80 to $222,071.20 for a full-time position.
