Job Overview

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Operations: Travel to designated areas for the installation and repair of POTS and DSL lines.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing of connections, broadband speed, and the quality of POTS lines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Installation Duties: Drop fiber from OSP aerial lines and ensure all lines are secure and operational before concluding work.
  • Experience Requirements: A minimum of 12 months of experience in the last 5 years in installing, repairing, and maintaining telecommunication services, including design services.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in connecting telecom color-coded wires and cables to terminals, as well as attaching and detaching various hardware components.
  • Field Testing: Ability to perform all outside plant connection work, including jacks, multiple lines, and rerouting drops to customer premises.
  • Problem Solving: Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical issues as they arise.
  • Customer Interaction: Review service order requirements with customers, assessing their telecommunication needs and recommending additional services as necessary.
  • Maintenance Tasks: Install, maintain, and repair residential and small business telecommunication services, including POTS and high-capacity circuits.
  • Cable Management: Initiate or perform cable cuts and transfer projects as needed to prevent service interruptions.
  • Documentation: Maintain daily logs for work unit credit and manage service order files.
  • Technical Proficiency: Utilize hand tools, power tools, and electronic measuring devices for testing and repairs.
  • Reading Technical Drawings: Interpret customer service orders, repair tickets, and technical drawings to perform assigned tasks.
  • Cable Repair: Efficiently repair cut cables of all sizes.
