Job Summary
The Building People, LLC is seeking a skilled Communications Expert to join our team as a full-time Communications Specialist. This role will support internal and external stakeholder engagement efforts for the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) communications team.

This position requires strong writing, editing, and communication skills to convey the science behind EERE's research and elevate awareness of the office's activities to stakeholders, the public, and Energy Department leadership. The ideal candidate will perform analysis and develop briefing summaries for high-ranking EERE staff, review technical documents to identify key equities, and conduct background research to write memos for leadership. Additional responsibilities include organizing conferences, workshops, and meetings, drafting meeting agendas, tracking action items, and gathering information from various sources to respond to external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform analysis and develops briefing summaries for high-ranking EERE staff on stakeholder events they plan to attend.
  • Support the PDAS in identifying, organizing, and analyzing responses to various stakeholders' needs and requests.
  • Review EERE technical and strategic documents to best identify which EERE offices have equities in the topics of meetings and workshops that PDAS is attending.
  • Conduct background research and write memos for leadership regarding stakeholder requests and events they plan to attend.
  • Organize or participate in (virtual or in-person) conferences, workshops, peer reviews, interagency meetings, and other program meetings and develop summary documents that track action items and/or outcomes.

Requirements
  • 4 years' experience; Master's Degree may be substituted for two years of experience.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Strong oral communication skills.
  • Detailed oriented; able to track multiple projects and tasks.
