We are seeking a skilled and experienced Charge Nurse to join our team at UCHealth. As a Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for providing nursing leadership and supervision to a specific shift and unit/area.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Supervision: Supervise and mentor staff during assigned shift, determining staffing levels and assignments based on staff availability, abilities, census, and patient acuity.
- Patient Care: Provide direct patient care as needed, float between staff to assist with problem-solving, and may take patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
- Evaluation and Quality Improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care, identify any issues that affect desired patient outcomes, and respond to complaints about patient care and related services.
- Administrative Duties: Perform role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers, ensuring staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care.
- Education and Licensure: Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years experience, state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), and Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
- Experience: 1 year of nursing experience, with the ability to promote to Charge Nurse III within 3 years of promotion to Charge Nurse.
- Certifications: Relevant certification as determined at position level, BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date.
