Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Field Technician to conduct and support field operations primarily in various locations. The role involves engaging in projects that require the assessment of geotechnical instrumentation, overseeing junior staff on-site, liaising with office personnel, evaluating waste materials, and coordinating third-party quality control testing.
Key Responsibilities- Gather field data on the physical and chemical properties of environmental projects, including sediment, soil, surface water, and groundwater samples; ensure proper coordination for sample collection; maintain daily logs; and perform QA/QC reviews of field documentation.
- Oversee and coordinate field operations, including drilling and subsurface investigations, preparation of field boring logs, installation of monitoring wells, and supervising subcontractors during fieldwork.
- Collaborate effectively with subcontractors and field personnel to ensure compliance with work scopes and safety standards.
- Work alongside project managers to manage multiple site investigations and remediation projects from the development of work plans through field execution and report preparation.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or geology is preferred, though not mandatory.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience with soils, industrial waste materials, and/or geosynthetics.
- Strong critical thinking and technical writing abilities, with the capacity to communicate effectively with diverse project staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to conduct fieldwork, including multimedia sampling, drilling oversight, and site inspections in various weather conditions throughout the year.
- Willingness to work outdoors year-round and travel extensively, including overnight stays when necessary.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a quick learning aptitude are essential.
- OSHA HAZWOPER and First Aid/CPR certifications are preferred.
- Mechanical skills are advantageous.
- CTI maintains a Drug-Free Workplace - candidates must pass a pre-hire drug screening.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Ability to navigate construction sites physically is necessary.
- Must be capable of lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds.
