Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient-centered care in the respiratory department. As a key member of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient response to therapy and notify providers as necessary.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
Requirements
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
  • Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 year of employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 1 year of employment.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 1 year of employment.
