The Immigrant & Refugee Services Division at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is seeking a dedicated Refugee Support Specialist to deliver comprehensive case management services to clients enrolled in the Refugee Program.
The primary responsibilities of the Refugee Support Specialist include:

  • 1) Conducting initial assessments and developing service plans tailored to the needs of refugee clients, including asylees, refugees, parolees, Cuban-Haitian entrants, and Special Immigrant Visa holders.
  • 2) Offering personalized support to clients by identifying their specific needs and challenges.
  • 3) Crafting actionable plans to assist clients in accessing and utilizing services that align with their requirements.
  • 4) Preparing detailed case documentation and facilitating referrals to a variety of social, medical, and legal resources.
  • 5) Coordinating connections to the County Board of Social Services for food assistance and healthcare, as well as employment, housing, and language training opportunities.
  • 6) Conducting regular follow-up sessions and check-ins with clients to monitor progress and address ongoing needs.
  • 7) Performing additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications Required:

  • 1) For the Refugee Support Specialist role, a Bachelor's degree is required; for the Case Management Associate position, a high school diploma or equivalent is necessary.
  • 2) Proficiency in both English and Spanish OR English and Haitian Creole is essential.
  • 3) Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively.
  • 4) Willingness to collaborate with colleagues on program-related initiatives and challenges.
  • 5) A strong commitment to serving in a non-profit environment.
  • 6) Capacity to foster and maintain positive working relationships with clients, staff, and community partners.
