Position Overview:

We invite candidates who are eager to contribute to the firm's management team, focusing on client satisfaction, continuous improvement, and the development of human capital. The Financial Controller will oversee our client intake procedures, revenue cycle management, expense cycle operations, treasury functions, and general accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with firm policies while delivering exceptional service to attorneys and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of six accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Establish and uphold necessary internal financial and operational controls.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with the income tax basis of accounting.
  • Ensure timely and precise completion of the monthly closing process.
  • Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Prepare and manage Member draw schedules and compensation reviews.
  • Oversee compliance reviews and audits conducted by financial institutions and regulatory bodies.
  • Manage the firm’s trust and escrow account activities efficiently.
  • Enhance the management of banking relationships and financial institutions.
  • Build strong, cross-functional relationships to support the firm’s operational objectives.

Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Director of Finance to enhance the firm’s financial reporting, budgeting, and analytical initiatives, while ensuring the integrity of our financial systems.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required.
  • CPA certification is mandatory.
  • MBA is preferred.
  • Experience in a law firm setting is essential.
  • Hands-on experience with financial and accounting reporting systems is required; familiarity with Aderant is a plus.
  • A minimum of eight years of experience in accounting operations management is necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate strategic relationships with clients, service providers, and team members.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and collaboration skills are crucial.
  • The ideal candidate will actively contribute to ongoing process automation and improvement initiatives.
  • A willingness to engage in day-to-day accounting operations is expected.
