Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Surety Underwriter to join our team at IAT Insurance Group. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for handling routine underwriting responsibilities, including financial and account analysis, bond renewal preparation, and maintaining agency relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough financial and account analysis to determine the suitability of new and existing business
  • Request and gather financial information on assigned accounts
  • Prepare and determine bond renewals, including cancellation decisions
  • Maintain strong relationships with agencies and provide exceptional service and support
  • Provide guidance to Bond Underwriting Assistants on bond processing
  • Review and rate bonds for premium and classification accuracy
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of files and verify necessary documentation
  • Act as primary service contact and visit assigned agents to foster relationships
  • Communicate knowledge of assigned accounts to Branch and Home Office personnel
  • Prioritize workflow to meet deadlines and ensure timely completion of tasks
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Mathematics, Business, or related field with at least 2 years of experience in Surety or equivalent
  • Equivalent experience defined as 6 years of relevant Commercial or Contract Surety underwriting experience
  • Strong marketing skills and ability to obtain new business and work with clients
  • Strong competency in quantitative and financial analysis
  • Requires strong math aptitude, excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and negotiating skills
  • Must be customer service oriented and have utmost integrity
  • Authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
  • AFSB industry designation
