Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Assistant II to join our team at CHI St. Joseph Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care as delegated by RN staff, including monitoring and recording vital signs, assisting with personal hygiene and physical care needs, and accurately measuring and recording intake and output.
  • Assist in providing a safe and clean environment for patients, including performing cleaning functions in the patient care unit and maintaining accurate records of refrigerator temperatures.
  • Deliver specimens, pick up medications and other items, and act as a receptionist for the unit, using hospital information systems according to hospital policy.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and unit personnel, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Perform phlebotomy and 12 lead EKGs as permitted on the assigned unit, and remove saline locks as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • 1 year of direct patient care experience or graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Completion of PCA II orientation/training.
