At Catholic Health Initiatives, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care. As a Patient Care Assistant II, you will play a vital role in supporting our nursing staff in providing safe, effective, and cost-efficient care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care as delegated by RN staff
  • Monitor and record vital signs
  • Assist in providing personal hygiene and physical care needs
  • Accurately measure, record, and report intake and output
  • Obtain and record daily weight
  • Perform blood glucose testing using blood glucose meter
  • Report changes in patient's status promptly to RN
  • Perform as sitter or patient care companion when needed
  • Assist in the admission, transfer and discharge process
  • Perform unit housekeeping needs
  • Deliver specimens, pick up medications and other items
  • Act as receptionist for unit; has limited use of the hospital information systems according to hospital policy dependent on the need of unit
  • Check and document refrigerator temperatures as delegated, reporting variances to appropriate personnel
  • Update assigned bed status
  • Answer call lights and telephone
  • Keep patient environment clean, Perform comfort rounds, keep hallways clear of obstruction, report safety issues and broken equipment appropriately, and adhere to patient safety precautions
  • Communicate with patient's family, physicians, and unit personnel and peers in an accurate, courteous, and professional manner
  • Perform phlebotomy and 12 lead EKGs as permitted on the assigned unit
  • Remove saline locks
