Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures using ultrasound technology to produce high-quality images of the body's internal structures.
Key Responsibilities- Operate ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular, and cardiac procedures/studies, accurately differentiating between normal and pathologic findings.
- Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information, including patient history, lab results, and physician orders, and compare requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
- Position patients and select proper transducers and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures, adjusting factors to attain the appropriate images and ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information and medical history, and communicate findings to physicians.
- Maintain records in accordance with regulatory agencies and enter patient and study information into the radiology information system, documenting billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
- Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months.
- Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months.
- Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
- Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
- Ability to use independent judgment to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients and caregivers using excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
